Vietnamese manufacturing sector sees rise in new orders in September

HANOI, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- Business conditions in Vietnam's manufacturing sector continued to improve slightly in September amid a renewed expansion in new orders, according to a report released by S&P Global Market Intelligence on Wednesday.

The S&P Global Vietnam Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index stood unchanged at 50.4 in September, indicating a further slight strengthening of the sector's health, the report said.

"There was good news on the demand front for Vietnamese manufacturers in September as new orders returned to growth and even exports, which have been falling continuously since late last year, showed signs of stabilizing," said Andrew Harker, economics director at S&P Global Market Intelligence.

He noted that greater stability is expected to help support the sector's growth over the coming year.
