HANOI, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 3.21 percent year-on-year in the first five months of 2025, the National Statistics Office (NSO) reported on Friday.

The main drivers behind the increase were higher prices in restaurants and food services, as well as rising costs for housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials.

In May alone, the CPI edged up 0.16 percent compared to April and increased 3.24 percent from the same month last year.

The country's overall inflation rate for the five-month period was recorded at 3.1 percent, said the office.
