HANOI, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam has completed the eradication of temporary and dilapidated housing nationwide, five years ahead of schedule, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said Tuesday.
Chairing a national conference to review the campaign the same day, Chinh hailed the result as a remarkable achievement in the country's poverty reduction efforts, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Since the campaign was launched in October 2024, over 334,230 houses have been built or repaired nationwide, including 255,310 newly built and 78,924 repaired, according to the prime minister.
The efforts were supported by more than 24.76 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 939.1 million U.S. dollars) in funding and over 2.7 million volunteer workdays, he said.
