Vietnam proposes tripling annual visits by foreign warships

HANOI, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's Ministry of National Defense has put forward a plan to triple the annual number of foreign warship visits to Vietnamese ports from one to three, the state-run Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.

The proposal forms part of a draft regulation detailing updated procedures for foreign military vessels visiting Vietnam and Vietnamese naval ships operating overseas, according to the media outlet.

Under the proposal, naval ships from the same country would be permitted to visit Vietnam up to three times annually, with each visit restricted to a maximum duration of seven days.

The draft regulation remains subject to final approval through Vietnam's legislative procedures.
