HANGZHOU, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Vietnam Olympic Committee (VOC) has clarified that a video report on the Hangzhou Asian Games circulating on social media is fake, and reaffirmed its fullest support for the Games organizers and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
The video report on the WeChat social media platform stated that the Vietnam men's football team had been given a sub-standard pitch to train, causing injuries to a number of players.
This report was denied by Dang Ha Viet, the Chef de Mission of the Vietnam delegation to the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.
"It has come to our attention that a certain video on the WeChat social media platform has surfaced, in which the content is negative towards the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee (HAGOC)'s preparations for our team," wrote Dr. Dang, who is also the Chairman of Sports Authority of Vietnam and Vice President of Vietnam Olympic Committee.
"We as Vietnam sports contingent would like to reconfirm that it does not represent our opinion on the Games as well as HAGOC. The VOC and Vietnam sports contingent fully support OCA, HAGOC and we have been met with warm hospitality," the Vietnam team leader added.
