HANOI, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's exports of computers, electric devices and phones witnessed bright spots in August, according to the latest statistics of the General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
The country earned about 5.15 billion U.S. dollars from exporting phones and components in August, a surge of 15.7 percent.
The turnover of exported computers, electric devices and components in August reached nearly 5.3 billion dollars, an increase of 4.4 percent compared to the previous month.
Computers, electric devices and components, and phones and components are Vietnam's major export commodities. They accounted for 10.43 billion dollars or 31.8 percent of the Southeast Asian country's exports in August, which equaled to 9.7 percent increase on a month-to-month basis.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam's exports of phones and components reached a turnover of 58 billion dollars last year, accounting for 15.6 percent of the country's total export turnover.
The key export markets for mobile phones and components include China, the United States, the European Union, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates.
