MOSCOW -- More than 5,800 people, including 243 children, have been evacuated from the flooded areas of the Kherson region after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant dam collapsed, a local official said on Friday.

MOSCOW -- Russia will deploy certain types of weapons in Belarus after July 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday when meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

"As you know, on July 7-8, the preparation of relevant facilities will be completed, and we will immediately begin measures related to the deployment of the relevant types of weapons on your territory," Putin said in a conversation with Lukashenko in Russia's Black Sea resort of Sochi. HOUSTON -- More than 20 teenagers were injured after a ramp collapsed on Thursday at a beachside city in south central U.S. state Texas, authorities said.

All of the victims were aged from 14 to 18 years old, and they were from a summer camp at Stahlman Park in Surfside Beach, a small city about 60 miles (about 96 km) away from downtown Houston, said Sharon Trower, public information officer for Brazoria County. (US-Ramp Collapse-Injury)

HANOI -- Vietnam has strengthened epidemic prevention and control measures after two northern provinces reported 14 cases of anthrax infection, Vietnam News Agency reported on Friday.
