YANGON, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar will host Group B matches of the 2nd round of the 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-20 Women's Asian Cup qualification from June 6 to 10, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) confirmed on Saturday.
"As a host country, we have arranged many things from playground to accommodation for the athletes," Zaw Min Htike, media director of the MFF, told Xinhua.
"Hosting international matches is advantageous. It is good not only for our team but also for our country," he said, adding that they have hosted such international events many times in the past.
Group B consists of China, Myanmar, Nepal and Chinese Taipei, while Group A comprises Australia, Vietnam, Iran and Lebanon.
All Group B matches will be played at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon. Meanwhile, Group A matches will be hosted by Vietnam from June 3 to 7.
Following a round-robin format, the winner and runner-up from each group will qualify for the finals of the tournament.
They will be joined by the top three teams from the 2019 AFC U-19 Women's Championship - Japan, DPR Korea and South Korea - as well as hosts Uzbekistan.
The 2024 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup is scheduled to take place from March 3 to 16, 2024.
