LALITPUR, Nepal - Sajha Yatayat, a Nepali public transportation bus system, says it is preparing to run electric minibusses on inner roads in Lalitpur.

Sajha Yatayat says it is planning to run electric public transport vehicles on Lalitpur's inner roadways.

Lalitpur's local government, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, inked an agreement with the cooperative to run four electric busses throughout the city.

According to Bhushan Tuladhar, a board member of Sajha Yatayat, the arrangement will allow individuals in the inner city to use public transportation. "This is a metropolitan city initiative," he continues, "and after this, people will no longer need to use private vehicles for movement."

Meanwhile, Tuladhar claims that no fare will be charged to foreign tourists or local senior citizens. According to him, this will also encourage tourists to visit the city's core.

The current average frequency of operation of buses is 15 minutes to 25 minutes.
