HANOI, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam reported 11,811 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, including 11,789 locally transmitted and 22 imported, according to the Ministry of Health.

The infections brought the total tally to 1,155,778, with 24,243 deaths, said the ministry. Nationwide, as many as 937,261 COVID-19 patients have so far recovered, up 25,951 from Tuesday.

Most of the community cases were detected in southern localities, including 1,666 in Ho Chi Minh City, 766 in Can Tho province, and 754 in Tay Ninh province.

Nearly 113 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, including over 45.1 million second doses, have been administered, according to the ministry.

As of Wednesday, the country has registered over 1.1 million locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since the start of the current wave in late April, the ministry said.
