VIENTIANE, May 11 (Xinhua) -- There have been 203,045 tests for the COVID-19 infection conducted in Laos since January 2020, said a report released Tuesday by the Center of Information and Education for Health under the Lao Health Ministry.
Of the tested people in the Southeast Asian country, 1,362 were found COVID-19 positive, said the report.
Laos has been carrying out tests on a daily basis to detect the COVID-19 infections.
So far in Laos, 297 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the pandemic and been discharged from hospitals, the report said.
To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Lao government has continued to implement preventive measures and carefully monitored arrivals in the country.
The health ministry urged the Lao people and all relevant authorities to continue strictly abiding by the health guidelines and rules set by the Lao government.
Laos reported its first two confirmed cases of COVID-19 on March 24 last year.
