HANOI, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam recorded 80 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 from 6:00 p.m. local time Sunday to 6:00 a.m. Monday, including 78 locally transmitted and two imported, raising the total confirmed cases to 3,412, the country's Ministry of Health said.

The community cases include 27 reported in the northern Bac Ninh province, 19 in the northern Vinh Phuc province, 13 in the central Da Nang city and nine in the Vietnamese capital Hanoi, among others.

Most of the cases were contacts of previously confirmed patients or linked to the clusters of infections in the localities.

The health ministry said 2,602 patients have so far recovered, and nearly 59,200 people are being quarantined and monitored over COVID-19.

Over 851,500 people working on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19, mostly health workers, have been vaccinated against the coronavirus by the end of Sunday, the ministry said.

As of 6:00 a.m. Monday, Vietnam has recorded a total of 1,981 domestically transmitted infections, including 411 detected since the start of the latest outbreak on April 29, according to the ministry.
