Henan province says good name sullied by airline
Vietnam News.Net Thursday 2nd September, 2010
The central Chinese province of Henan has asked Henan Airlines to stop using its name.
Henan’s local government has revoked the right of the airline to use the name, after a Henan Airlines plane crashed just short of the runway at a brand new airport in northeastern China late on Tuesday.
42 people died in the worst aviation disaster in the country for six years.
The Henan provincial government has told the airline it can no longer be named after the province, as it had tarnished Henan’s reputation.
Henan Airlines, a small regional carrier, was until last year known as Kunpeng Airlines.
Its corporate headquarters are now in Henan’s capital, Zhengzhou.
